Tanja Roscic

Born in Zürich, 1980 lives and works in Zagreb and Zürich.

Tanja Roscic has created a visual language using materials appropriated from everyday life. She uses these everyday items in sculptures, performances, drawings, and collages, forming worlds that capture moments of transience, metamorphosis, and the in-between. Crashed cars, neon lights, and hanging foam sculptures populate her chaotic, immersive environments. Referencing practices of the occult and alchemy, she transforms her materials through deliberate actions, including melting, mixing, dissolving, dying, welding, cutting, and covering. Likewise, her drawings feature images of hybrid figures in near-states of being or wildly composed collages made of various materials that hint at the process behind their making.

"This right-handed 31-year-old artist has been aching over the last few years, affecting the joints and whole body with daily consideration of painkillers. Occasionally ibuprofen is used and helps. There is chiropractor input for back pain which was lower back and now is upper right shoulder. Mr Wright does not smoke nor drink alcohol, lives with his girlfriend and dog, is an artist and social media manager, and has no drug allergies." - national health service.
