"Wir sind kein Hotel, das Kunst hat, wir sind eine Galerie, die Hotelgäste hat", sagt Jérémie Maret. Vor zehn Jahren gründete der Schweizer das Kunstprojekt "The Proposal". Sein Angebot: Galerien zum Übernachten. In Zürich und Berlin stellte er Betten zwischen zeitgenössische Kunstwerke, rohen Beton, aufblasbare Riesen-Männer, Klopapierrollen und Neon-Schilder. Jetzt gastiert seine Galerie auf dem Schweizer Land, ruhiger und zurückhaltender. Viele der ausstellenden Kunstschaffenden sind vor Ort, geben Workshops, philosophieren, ziehen mit Gästen durch die Berge, um ihre Kunst ganzheitlich zugänglich zu machen. Ende 2023 wandert "The Proposal" auch nach Ibiza, in eine weitere Dependance: hohe Decken, viel white space, wenige Zimmer, modern-spanische Kunst. Klingt einladend? BERLIN – Zurich gallery THE PROPOSAL first opened in 2011 with the idea of offering an unprecedented intimacy between art and viewer. The space doubles as a bed-and-breakfast where both intrigued visitors and potential patrons can arrange to sleep alongside the displayed artwork. Whether the guests’ intention be a novel aesthetic experience or a ‘try-before-you-buy’, the gallery’s exhibitions are united by their status as ‘proposals’: they are not artworks, but prototypes of possible artwork. The viewers’ reactions to and interactions with these prototypes then contribute to the final product

There was an aquatic theme to the art installations of Jeremie Maret as the Swiss artist exhibited six more ideas in Zürich for ongoing art project The Proposal. The Proposal No.9 took place at the Frauenbad Stadthausquai, an historically important floating bathhouse for women.

From tens of thousands of entries from around the world, 100 aspiring designers, architects, DIYers and makers hailing from more than 20 countries/regions have been chosen to bring their crazy space ideas to life as part of the $10,000,000 OMG! Fund.
The winning ideas stood out for their unique and inspiring design, sustainable consideration, and novel ways of offering immersive guest experiences. Recipients will each receive up to $100,000 USD to make their fantastical creations possible, and over the course of the next ten months, will design, construct and outfit their spaces to be guest-ready by summer
